Mulele Matondo Afrika
 
Kinshasa-born Mulele Matondo Afrika started playing music at an early age. Early in his career he established himself in Zambia and Zimbabwe as a bassist, guitarist and arranger, and became renowned for his musical flair, playing homegrown Congolese musical styles which are still extremely popular in those countries today.
Under the name Ponpon Matondo, Mulele enjoyed success working with African music stars Chris Chali and Amayenge, Real Sounds of Africa, Lubumbashi Stars and New Stars Musica VSVL, which he co-founded.

Mulele has also collaborated with artists such as Mermans Mosengo from Playing for Change, Diabel Cissokho, Natty King, Lopango Ya Banka among others, and has performed across the UK at venues such as London’s Jazz Café, as well as in his home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
